epistatic selection
Koch E, Ristroph M & Kirkpatrick M 2013 Long range linkage disequilibrium across the human genome. PLoS ONE 8:e80754.
- the results show an excess of associations between pairs of distant sites (separated by > 0.25 cM)
- epistasis has been implicated in the LD observe between two pairs of genes in humans
- Sved [17] studied correlations in heterozygosity between chromosome blocks
- his analysis of the HapMap phase 3 data found evidence of associations between blocks at distances of up to 10 cM and weak correlations between blocks on different chromosomes
- he did not attempt to assess their statistical significance
- his approach has the advantage that it can use unphased data
- it loses power to detect linkage disequilibrium when phased data are available
